For Your A-Rod/B-Bonds/M-McGwire/Roids Venting Posts of Rage02.09.2009
Besides increasing your hat size and decreasing your sac size, apparently steroids also makes you into an Oompa Loompa. So what will this do to either a) close the hall of fame door to A-Rod, b) open it back up for Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa under the pretense that..hey! everyone did it, or c) give Madonna a reason to blame another thing on George W. Bush?

 I Voted - YayPolitics.Com11.04.2008
I won't tell you who/what I voted for but it was a mix of Rep and Dems. And a write in vote for Mopy somewhere in there.

Anyway, keep it here or rather HERE for chat and video coverage tonight. Happy Jihad and I will be bringing you live insight into the election as the night wears on.

Noob
will be making an appearance once the food is out.

My final prediction: Barack Obama 311 - John McCain 227 with Senator Obama winning the popular vote 50.62 to 46.36 percent (third parties get 4.26%).

Senator Obama should be the first Democrat to win 50% since Carter in 1976, and have the strongest percentage of a Democrat since LBJ in 1964. Electoral Vote wise however he'll lag behind Clinton and be comparable to Truman, Kennedy or Carter. (Or Nixon's first term to throw in a GOP comparable).

How can McCain win? I'm glad you asked....on YayPolitics you will see state by state predictions (final version up around 5:30 pm tonight). But if you assume my McCain states are correct, then you start picking off the Obama states in order of how close they are you get OH [20EV], then VA [13], then CO [9]. Getting these three states will swing 42 from Obama to McCain and create a 269-269 tie. All three states are under 5% so are close to the margin of error. Is it possible? Sure! Likely? Not really.

So get out, vote! And join us here tonight if you would.

Yay! Politics!

 Congrats Phillies10.31.2008

Well the other night the Phillies became World Champions for the first time since 1980. And, like in most towns, a celebratory riot ensued. Cars were overturned. The head of the Rocky Statue was adorned with Phillies headgear. The Liberty Bell was thrown through the window of a 7-11. And some guy climbed a street light only to be thunked in thead by a Brad Lidge fast-bottle.

Stay classy Philadelphia!

Sarah Palin Attempts to Kill Manny Legace at Dave Glover Night at Saavis10.25.2008

Wow. Politics, conspiracy, Dave Glover, and sports. No wonder I'm posting this site wide rather than just in one category or another.

So, I went to last night's game for Dave Glover Show night or whatever they called it, and it was also United Way night and Alaska Gov./McCain #2 Sarah Palin dropped the "first puck".

First off, I never knew there was a "first puck" thing, so I was amazed just by that. Anyway, there was a carpet spread on the ice so she and family could walk to center ice and not slip when their $1,000 shoes hit the slippery surface. Problem: the Blues had to exit their dugout or whatever they call it by stepping onto the ice where the carpet started. Goalie Manny Legace exited first and proceeded to show his love for Republican politics by imitating Gerald Ford:

Instantly the media blamed Palin writing articles making good use of the word "carpet". (Where are you now NOW?) Examples below.

Anywho, Legace played for just one period but was not his usual self, letting up two goals, but the Blues were just crappy all night anyway, being out-shot 2 to 1 and having plenty of penalties.

The upside, per various articles, when the first fight broke out, Palin was getting into it waving a big foam Blues hand. I'm hoping some photos become available of that, because what better way to win over the hearts of the undecideds than wearing a big foam hand while a fight breaks out on the ice.

In other news, the Glover event was fun. I sat next to the Terbrock family, met Becca and husband for the first time. Colombo had his gay caeser do in full force, and even Jeff Allen and Denys from the Allman in the Morning were there.

Legace will only be out a few days, and he doesn't blame Palin. Rather, he points out, it was the fault of the Blues employee who didnt keep the carpet steady as he walked onto the ice.

 Linehan Fired!09.29.2008

St. Louis Rams' head coach Scott Linehan became the second casualty of a horrible start joining former Detroit Lions' president Matt Millen. A week ago, Millen was fired for the ongoing futility of that franchise and today, Linehan was let go after the fourth straight drubbing this year for the Rams. They've been outscored by an average of more than 25 points a game. Linehan was replaced by defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, who has a head coaching stint with New Orleans on his resume. Linehan's two-plus-year record with the Rams was 11-25.

There was the scent of desperation about the Rams this week as Linehan replaced Marc Bulger with Trent Green at quarterback, used trick plays and went for first downs on fourth down a few times. The Rams still lost to the Buffalo Bills, 31-14. The Rams (0-4) have a bye week.

So, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin was not the first coach to be fired this year. The Raiders (1-3) had another lead slip away yesterday in losing to San Diego, 28-18, with the Chargers scoring 25 fourth-quarter points. For the time being, Kiffin still is coaching the Raiders although they are in a bye week and that seems to be when these things are happening. Like Linehan, Millen was also fired going into a bye week but, of course, removing the head personnel guy isn't the same as a coaching change.

 And Thus The Season Ends...09.28.2008
86-76 or .530864, at best fourth place, but Houston does have one game left tomorrow - a loss for them gives the Cards a tie at third.

The Cardinals 127th season since 1882 would be tied for their 57th best with 1979 (Ken Boyer's only full season as manager) and 1989 (Whitey Herzog's last full season as manager)

The most recent year that the team performed better was 2005's 100-62.

With 779 runs scored, the '08 Cards are tied for #33 with the '39 Cards (who did it in 155G). Their average of 4.808 RS/G ranks #49

With 725 runs against, the '08 Cards are tied for #38 most allowed with the '59 Cards (who did it in 154G); their average of 4.475 RA/G ranks as #77 most allowed or #51 least allowed

With a plus/minus of +54, the '08 Cards have #50 on the list; their average of +1/3 R/G is #51

So where do you think the Cards need to do the most work in the offseason?

A Real Reason for Obama and McCain to Suspend Their Campaigns09.25.2008

Over the weekend, Keggy, the Dartmouth Keg, was kidnapped by assailants unknown and held for ransom. He was found safe but harmed a bit (facial injuries) and after some surgery and therapy he should return to duty soon.

More fortunately, he was found before Senator McCain could suspend his campaign further until the beloved mascot was found. However the kidnappers are still on the loose. This aggression should not stand. I sincerely hope that someone at the debates ask both Obama and McCain what they will do to bring the perpetrators to justice, and to prevent such an act from happening again!

The Home Run Derby Comes Down to the Wire09.18.2008

With a little less than 2 weeks left we have a tie going on!

Eric Becker of Chicago, IL and Mark Chriss of Suwanee, GA each have 264 Home Runs total right now.

Now here's the kicker - they each have as their tiebreaker 304 total. So this will be interesting to watch.

Their lineups both include Ryan Howard, Carlos Lee, Mark Teixeira, Ryan Braun, Miguel Cabrera, and Prince Fielder. Eric has in addition Lance Berkman and David Wright; Mark has Manny Ramirez and Matt Holliday.

Third place right now is Jerod Redick of Ozark, MO with 255 - probably too far back to catch up, but you never know!

 STL's Football Season Already Over?09.12.2008
According to Steve Korte of the Bellevegas News Democrat, it is:

Steven Jackson eager to move on; saw some bright spots in loss to Eagles

BY STEVE KORTE - News-Democrat

ST. LOUIS --Running back Steven Jackson expects a full workload of about 25 carries this Sunday against the New York Giants.

Jackson got only 14 carries in the St. Louis Rams' 38-3 season-ending loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Jackson, who missed 27 practices in a contract holdout and didn't play in any of the team's four preseason games, said he was anticipating getting his normal amount of carries going into the season opener.

Read the rest here.

I don't mean to play the role of a cheerleader here, but I think our season is far from over. Sure, the Rams didn't even look like they were interested in playing the game when got spanked like never before last Sunday, but lets allow the team to get a few games under their belts before we decide if the season truly over.

I think what happened here is that since all the sports writers and pundits have been putting down the Rams for the last week, this guy wanted to get in on the action and make his own "season over" announcement. So now the season is over. Funny... it's pretty warm for February.
